let's play catch-up (ketchup!)

Since my last update...

*We spent a weekend in Anguilla

*I drank two margaritas

*At different times

*My father turned fifty

*I read "The Bell Jar," "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe," and "Beloved"

*I began doing assignments for a tutorial in writing drama

*I wrote an essay in the style of the Gollum-and-Bilbo riddlegame

*I critiqued many essays for the writing tutorial I was TA'ing in

*The writing tutorial ended

*I made a preliminary college list

*I spent a day in the Berkshires with friends

*We cleared a foot of snow off the trampoline

*And went sledding in jeans

*And ate ten brownies apiece

*I had to pretend to be addicted to ice for two days as a psychology exercise

*Kris turned eighteen, and the illegal-relationship-jokes began in full

*I took the writing SAT II and scored 800; Mom had bribed me with a hot fudge sundae at Serendipity's, we'll have to go soon

*We went to dinner at an authentic steakhouse for Alexis's thirtieth birthday

*I had a psych review session with Jackie and Missy

*When you lose your hearing, you're going bald in your ears

*I did well on my three midterms, even physics

*I broke the curve in AP Psych -- whoops

*I got a 5 on the 1998 AP we did for a French midterm

*I went to Utah for the first weekend of February

*We saw the World Cup championship aerials and dual moguls competitions in Deer Valley

*They kicked ass

*Mom, Kelsey, and Alexa stayed out in Utah for another two weeks; Dad and I came home, just the two of us

*We rattled around the house a bit and at times were at a loss for food, but it was comfortable

*We had a hellish week with a gazillion psych assignments due, up past bedtime every night (then again, since my bedtime is officially 10:30, it doesn't take much)

*I called lots of college admissions, but most colleges don't interview until the summer

*We had a snow day!

*Dad and I went for a walk in the woods in our backyard

*The winter we moved here, when we had a blizzard with three feet of snow, we spent all our time out there

*We went to dinner at my grandparents' house

*She made lamb and watercress-cauliflower mush, both of which I hate. And she put a lime in the water, which I hate too

*But I liked the chocolate cake, the cheese and the salad

*Why do I remember what I ate? Moving along

*Dad and I toured Princeton

*We saw Les Miserables, his second time, my first

*Went out for dinner at one of the fanciest bistros in NYC

*Kris bought me an awesome A.F.I. shirt, he saw them in concert, am extremely jealous

*We watched Amelie in French class... the second time I've seen it sans les sous-titres!

*I bought Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings valentines, and started sending some to the Sisters... if you don't have anything from me yet, and your name's on the list, I promise, it's coming, it just might take a long time

*My French class took a field trip to see "Tartuffe"

*On Valentine's Day we took a memory quiz with our valentines

*Dad and I joined the rest of the family in Utah

*The East Coast stole our snow

*We saw "Chicago", which I'd seen on Broadway years ago

*And "Shanghai Knights"

*Mom and I spent three hours in the outlets

*I broke my toe

*Walking into a couch

*Took a full-length practice SAT and scored 800V, 700M; Mom told me if I keep the 800 verbal and get the math to a 750 the day of the test (April 5th), she'll buy me and Kris tickets to Rent

*At this one dinner we went to, there was a deer bust on the wall

*Every five minutes, its eyes would glow orange

*It was so freaky

*A two-year-old boy grabbed my boob (Juliet, to be exact)

*A fourteen-year-old boy hit on me

*What is WITH people these days?

*Alexa, Dad, and I had one kick-ass day of skiing powder

*By the time we got home, my legs kind of stopped working

*When we flew back to NY, it had rained and all the lovely snow had turned into icky ice

*Mom and I toured Wesleyan and had lunch with an admissions officer; we'll probably go back to interview in April

*There was a girl who had a shirt that said "Don't assume I'm straight"

*I think I want one

*I saw "The Vagina Monologues" at SUNY Purchase with friends and gained a new appreciation for that wonderful body part

*I'm reading "Of Mice and Men"

*I finally got down to the office and wrote checks for Dad -- for two hours

*We went out for dinner at Rosa Mexicano

*And saw "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" afterward with Whoopi Goldberg

That was yesterday. Which brings us to today. *phew*

More later. I love you all; I'm sorry I've been such a bad diarylander. *hugs*
