2:28 p.m. - 2002-09-06 Oh, zit, let me pop you! This entry is entirely devoted to popping zits, so if that disgusts you, you may not want to continue reading. You have been warned. :) I love popping zits. When we were younger, Mom used to pop our zits for us. It was TERRIBLE. It was so painful and awful and humiliating and I think it definitely affected my relationship with her, I mean you begin to associate seeing your mother with pain, that can't be a good thing. She'd make us lie down on the bed and just go at it. (That sounds a little dirty. Whoops.) When I was thirteenish I decided that there was no way I was going to let her do that to me anymore, I was a teenager, and I started popping my OWN zits. She didn't like that very much. She said I didn't pop them right, and she'd still trap me and get the biggest ones. Now, I'm too old for her to do that to me anymore. It doesn't hurt when you pop your own zits. I mean, okay, it hurts a little, sometimes it brings a tear to my eye, but it's FUN, damnit. The whiteheads. You squeeze and POP! Out flies the white stuff. I loooove watching that stuff fly out. Those are probably my favorite kinds of zits, because you pop them once and they rarely fill back up with gook, and they're just fun to pop. The blackheads. These are cool to pop too, but more difficult. Once you get them, the white gook squeezes out in a little thin thread, not like the big blobs you get from whiteheads. If I'm bored in the evening, I go blackhead-hunting. I pop and pop and pop until my chin is bright red and I can't get any more gook out. I don't have bad skin at all, by the way, but everyone has zits, and I pop mine. The huge infected ones. These ones I don't like. First it starts out a big red infected mess, which hurts, can't be covered up, and isn't pop-able yet. When you try to pop it, you just get the clear juicy stuff. But when it becomes poppable... ohhhh. THAT'S the best. Because SO much gook comes out. Yellowish-greenish-white gook, and so much of it. It just FLIES. And, yeah, it hurts a little, and bleeds afterward, but that is the best feeling, because you're getting out the bacteria and shit. (No, that's not a scientific fact, but still, once the stuff goes flying out, the zit gets much flatter, and it's easier to cover up, and it heals faster, I think.) The fact is: these zits aren't going to go away on their own. If you have a big whitehead on the tip of your nose, the obvious thing to do is go SQUEEZE!. It might bleed an itsy bit, but not much. If you do it right, it won't scar. And it will give you so much pleasure to see that white gook squooch out. Alternatively, it will disgust you. Your call. I'm weird. Bored in the evenings? All you need is a kleenex, your own face and your index fingers! Go pop yourself some ZITS!
