been home a week

So yeah, as you can tell, I kinda don't think I'm going to get in that ethics entry before I go to Nantucket. So I'll just write about the past week and then I won't have to worry about it when I get back.

I've actually been pretty busy. Ok, make that REALLY busy. I do spend a LOT of time on instant messenger talking to CTY people. I had one really funny chat with Matt, Anthony, and Matt's girlfriend Sarah.

I've been setting up the new computers. That has taken a LOT of time. With Dad's help, we moved over all of our old documents from both old computers. With Dad's help and the AOL tech help, we moved over our favorite places and away messages from both old computers. I got virus protection for both computers. I downloaded AOL and AIM for both computers and got Microsoft Word to work. I downloaded WinMX (music-downloading program), MusicMatch Jukebox (music-burning program), and Quicktime for both computers. I'm the only one of the sisters who did shit for the computers. Ha, I'm actually very proud of myself, and when we're in Nantucket I'm going to set up Lauren's compaq with everything too. It'll be an interesting experience. Her computer was a graduation gift from Gramie and Grumps. For her birthday (she'll be 18 on August 18), they gave her a refrigerator for her dorm room.

What else have we been doing... Tuesday night Kelsey and I had dinner with Gramie and Grumps at an Italian restaurant which was, as always, awkward... In the morning Mom took us to the mall and I got a new purple bathing suit. I went to Delia's, where I rarely go but I had just remembered that that was where I had bought the infamous purple glowstick that I swallowed at the last dance at CTY. haha. They don't sell them anymore.

Wednesday we picked up Lauren and Alexa. Both seemed okay, Lauren was dead-tired from eight weeks of dealing with campers, and being paid about five cents an hour. Lex apparently REALLY missed Kelsey and I; in fact, Kelsey really missed Alexa and I. Both missed the little trio that we've become over the year as we share obsessions with LOTR and the Matrix. I missed them too, of course, but really not THAT badly.

Leonard came over with the three kids, Lemar, Matt, and Maelene one afternoon. I told their story in one of my entries in jessica5787, but don't have time to link it now. I promise I will when I get back from Nantucket.

On Thursday I got my amazon.com package that I ordered with my birthday gift certificate way back in June. I had my lovely book on Rent with the script and everything, which I'm reading now, and the DVD of "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," which I gave to Kelsey as an early birthday present. We watched 45 minutes that night and then 45 minutes last night, and we'll watch the rest and all the extras and everything in Nantucket. We're going to have Dad's computer and Lauren's compaq and Alexis will even have a computer too, so we can watch DVDs, and hopefully Dad's and Lauren's will have wireless so we can go online all the time, which would make me really happy, obviously. I won't be able to write in here, but I'll be able to read email and talk to CTY friends.

I got my photos back late Tuesday night, so I've been going through them a lot. I labeled all my photos from CTY at Goucher two years ago, and put my photos from Skidmore last year in a semi-chronological order, I still have to label them. When I get back from Nantucket, I'm going to send an email to my hall apologizing for losing touch and asking if they can send me some photos of the last two dances and such, because my camera ran out of batteries while I was there. I'm going to get back in touch.

I want to put together a CTY album and bring it with me next year. Rachel did that and Pippa brought her photos from last year and everyone brings some photos to just HAVE -- Dakota did, Rosie did, Hannah did, Taube did -- and I didn't, so next year I will.

Back to this week... Dr. Joan is putting out a new edition of her book, which I'll link some other time, and for some reason she wants me to retype it... so I've spent a lot of time on that... seven hours so far, to be exact, and the Microsoft Word document is 32 pages. She pays me $6 an hour and gave me $30. I don't know if that was an advance or complete payment but it's definitely going to be more than five hours!!! I worked in Dad's office a little bit this week too.

In the past few days I've been spending most of my time downloading MP3's from WinMX and putting together CTY mixes, the canon songs that they play at every dance, and then songs that just make me think of CTY, I'll end this entry with the track listings... I started burning cds upstairs on David's computer but the only one I burned, "Nevermind" by Nirvana for myself, turned out screwy, so I'm going to play with it later and fix it up, I know Lauren wants to burn copies of most of her cds for college. Speaking of college, we spent a good hour in the container store and she got a lot of stuff for college. Mom got me a bulletin board, which I've wanted for a while. I won't be able to put it up until I get back, but I think I'll have fun choosing what I want to put on it and everything.

Actually, I'm really depressed right now... I spent a week in a sort of missing-CTY-but-I-can-go-back-next-year-and-I-still-love-myself phase, and now I'm completely out of it... so I really don't feel like writing.

The evil ferry people fucked up and gave us the 7:15 ferry instead of the noon one, which means leaving the house at 3 AM, which means getting up at 2-something... in order to have eight hours of sleep, I should have already gone to bed.

I've got to go wash my hair and shit or Mom's going to get pissed. Next entry will have more to say. We get back on the 26th.

When we get back, I'm going to have a LOT of looking around in the LOTR sisters diary to do! I haven't read any diaries at all this week and I feel very out of touch with what you all are doing. When I get back, I'll catch up. Not on the whole summer -- I've decided that's impossible -- but on the ones with the most intriguing titles. :P So, a title contest it is...

See you in two and a half weeks!
