3:01 p.m. - 2002-05-29 A To-Do List As a way of explaining why I haven't been updating and why I probably won't get to update for a while, here's my to-do list. Not really in a particular order. 1. Find a short story and adapt it into an art form for Carley. DUE: Tomorrow at 4:00 pm. TIME: 1.5 hours. 2. Find images from musicals for digital media project. DUE: Project is due on June 11th, but I need the titles of all the musicals for class tomorrow. TIME: 2 hours (I need to find a bunch of boxes in the storage space downstairs with all my old theater programs). 3. Study for chemistry SAT II. DUE: Well, I should be done studying by the test, which is this Saturday. :) TIME: Who knows? I have eight practice tests and I can get more, but I don't think I'll have time for them. So we'll say 10 hours, because each test is an hour and I need time to correct them and go over my answers. 4. Global studies homework; multiple-choice and short-answer questions on the unification of Germany. DUE: Monday. TIME: 2 hours. 5. Math homework. DUE: Monday. TIME: 1 hour. 6. French homework. DUE: Tomorrow. TIME: 15 minutes. 7. Email journalism article to Ms. M; show it to Lauren first. DUE: Friday. TIME: 10 minutes. 8. Read Time (global homework). DUE: Monday. TIME: 45 minutes. 9. Clean room and loft. DUE: Before I leave for France (June 28th). TIME: At least a day! 10. Start studying for French final. DUE: June 13th at 10:30. TIME: Hours and hours. I have a review book, but I also need to go over all our notes and quizzes and workbook. 11. Copy over my chemistry notes so I have neat copies and so that it stays in my mind. DUE: June 17th, really, for the honors final. I guess also June 21st for the Regents. TIME: 2 hours. 12. Sort all of my pennies into rolls. DUE: Preferably before France, since I'm a little short on cash, and I could get as much as -- wow! -- $15 from doing this. TIME: .5 hour. I have a LOT of pennies. Alexis gave me a jar of them back when he moved into his new apartment, too. 13. Make some sort of cute card for Zip's birthday. DUE: Sunday, for her birthday party. TIME: 15 minutes. 14. Plan and make a video for Mother's Day/Mom's birthday. DUE: June 23rd, her birthday. TIME: 4 hours, at least. 15. Think of something to get Lauren M. for her birthday. Find a dress for her party. DUE: June 21st, the day of the party. TIME: 2 hours (shopping time). 16. Photocopy chemistry notes for Missy and Lauren. DUE: Tomorrow, fourth period. TIME: 5 minutes. 17. Write checks for Dad. DUE: ASAP. I went down on Friday and did the most important -- phone bills, credit card bills, and anything Utah-related -- but there are still some left. TIME: 1.5 hours. 18. Email Sonia, because I didn't have time to write to her on her birthday last Thursday, and because I haven't stayed in touch this year at all. I met her at Pathways my first summer away from home. DUE: ASAP. TIME: .5 hours. (Like I said, I haven't written to her all year!) 19. Email my former tutor from the writing tutorials this year and ask if it makes sense to retake the fiction tutorial next year. If it's the same tutor and the same assignments, it doesn't; if it's different, it might. DUE: ASAP, the tutorial ended in February! TIME: .5 hours. 20. Email Ben, the coordinator of the writing tutorials, and ask if there's any way I can get onto the Level 3 and Level 4 websites and peer-edit. When I was in Level 4, I did some editing with Level 3. DUE: ASAP. TIME: .5 hours. 21. Start thinking about what to bring to France, CTY, and Nantucket. This doesn't only mean clothes, but also includes books and stationery. DUE: June 26th, since that's when Mom is leaving for Utah, and I need to be packed both for France AND CTY then. 22. "Doctor" Father's Day cards (I got two at the mall yesterday), which just means changing them more to suit *our* father. Find a present. DUE: June 16th. TIME: 1 hour. 23. Actually wrap Jackie's birthday present (the LOTR keychains), make a card and bring it in to her. DUE: Before the end of the school year. Her birthday was March 10th. ;) TIME: 15 minutes. 24. Start thinking about what to get Lauren, Kelsey, and David for their birthdays (respectively August 18, August 19, September 5), because by the end of the summer I'm usually dead-broke. Put some money aside. DUE: Their birthdays. TIME: Who knows? I could get something in France, or at CTY, or if I'm desperate in Nantucket, or it could be late. But I don't like giving things late. 25. Find a really nice card for Lauren's graduation, and actually write a real, long, heartfelt message. Because I'm going to miss her like hell. DUE: June 24th, her graduation. I'll probably put it under her pillow, which is what she did with my birthday card. TIME: 1 hour. 26. Work out finances for this summer. I have $105 that I've been saving all year long (it would be $210 if I hadn't had to may for that damn watch, grrrrr). I put aside $5 a week whenever I got my allowance. But I would rather spend this on something really nice. I have $23 cash, which isn't terribly much; I bought two LOTR bookmarks with the rings (Gandalf & Strider), plus the Harry Potter DVD for Kelsey's Bat Mitzvah, plus a little dog Beanie Babie for Kelsey's Bat Mitzvah, plus two Father's Day cards, plus "Among the Betrayed", plus the "Spaceballs" DVD. DUE: ASAP; I'll probably be completely broke after Missy's birthday and Father's Day, so I need to decide how much money I can spend at France vs CTY vs Nantucket. This does not make me happy. 27. Get my room clean enough so that I can HAVE my allowance. I didn't have time to take it that extra step the past two weeks, and I'm $20 shorter for it. DUE: Sunday night. TIME: 1 hour. 28. Type for Joan! She owes me $6 from that huge job recently, editing that 40-page document and fixing formatting and stuff. She gave me another huge thing to retype back in the fall and said there was no rush whatsoever, so I could always work on that. $6 an hour. DUE: Preferably before I leave for France, since I really need money. TIME: The whole document could take 8 hours. It's LONG. And complicated. With formatting and text boxes and stuff. 29. Family newsletter (I'm not going to name it anymore, because my sisters could find its name in a search; it's basically a compilation of a bunch of writing we've done over the year, poems, stories, and then some articles about what our family has done, and we send it to teachers, family, and a few friends). I'm the Editor, and I need to, well, edit. get absolutely everything in (I'm just waiting on Carley's review of "Into the Woods," but Mom said she'd think about writing a Director's Note). See, last year, Mom wrote a great Director's Note in May, and then she was pissed that the newsletter didn't get out until... uhhh... last January. so she said she wouldn't write any more, but maybe I can persuade her? anyway after everything's in, I need to edit, and check formatting. DUE: I'd really like to have it done before I go away. So... we'll say June 25th. TIME: 3 hours. But this depends on Mom. WHAT I WANT TO DO: 1. Watch Harry Potter! and all the wonderful extras! 2. Listen to my new CDs: Rent, Black Sails in the Sunset, The Eminem Show, Missundazstood, and the rap mix David made me. 3. Watch the National Geographic LOTR special that Maggie got me. 4. Watch my tape of The Mists of Avalon. 5. Watch the Tony's on Sunday. 6. Watch the MTV Movie Awards on Thursday and root for LOTR! 7. Decide what to get Missy for birthday. Buy it. 8. Email everyone from CTY. 9. Do an amazon.com order. With my gift certificate from Alyce and Bruce, even though it goes a little over, I think I'm going to get the "Matrix" shooting script, a book about "Rent", and pre-order the LOTR DVD for Kelsey's birthday. 10. Read "Among the Betrayed" which I just got at the mall yesterday. 11. Read "The Vagina Monologues," which Missy lent me months ago and I feel badly about not having had a chance to read. 12. Try to get to visit Dr. Joan; I slept funny last Friday night and it hasn't gotten better. 13. Email Dot. She called me on my birthday and I feel terribly that I haven't emailed her. 14. Do virus scans and back up My Documents. I had created an AOL account to move to this summer, and it got a hacker, so I had to delete it. 15. Set up my new AOL account so I can use it this summer: buddy list, address book, favorites, mail. 16. Read all 315 emails. Actually, about 2/3 are from me; either forwarded old emails or links. So, yeah, check out the links. 17. Buy a sweatshirt from my youth group. Our last board meeting is tonight at Teren's house (she's the president). Sweatshirts are $20. 18. Read "Harry Potter" in French. This is fun AND prepares me for the final. Sort of. At least it gives me some vocabulary, right? And reading comprehension! Ooooh! I won't study anything else! ;) 19. Watch the extras and behind-the-scenes stuff on "The Matrix" and "Save the Last Dance". 20. Write a real update! Yeah, I wasted way too much time doing this. I'm going to go look for those theater programs now. I'll update sometime, but it probably won't be this week. Kay's here until Saturday (English cousin; I'll explain in a real update), I have the chem SAT II on Saturday morning, Sunday I have an appointment with Marsha and Zip's birthday party... and homework... eugh. Well, now you know most everything I've been doing -- or actually, that I NEED to do. I'm sure I left some stuff out, but who cares? :)
