1:51 p.m. - 2002-05-05 Why would I want a CD in Hebrew, Yiddish, and English? And I'm sick. Fever, cold, sore throat, the whole lot. Of course, I have my whole week's worth of math to do, two hours' worth of typing for Dr. Joan, that fucking journalism article on the Day of Silence, a practice test on electrochemistry, studying for the chem SAT II, Hebrew homework, a huge Language Arts project on an imaginary country, studying for a French test, and all the rest of the editing on the F-H News, seeing as Wednesday is our last class with Judy, probably ever. We definitely have some serious issues with her. Friday, I didn't do much... well, actually, I did my global. I had done the reading on Thursday and then I summarized it. I also made my phone calls for my youth group about Mitzvah Day, got two maybe's. My excuses this time were that I had household obligations (true) and an inordinate amount of homework (true), and besides, I'm sick. I AM pretty damn feverish. It sucks. I also wrote a chapter on my LOTR fanfic. Did I mention my account got suspended? I'm so pissed! Apparently, the convo I had with Kelsey violated their rules, and I can't upload anything until 5:39 on May 8th. Grrr. I found a poem I wanted to upload, too. I'm not happy. Friday night Lauren and I watched a whole bunch of OLD homemade videos, which were hilarious (except for the mooning-the-camera parts). We made a ton of videos of totally random stuff, and they all look like earthquakes, because the camera was super-heavy and Lauren kept laughing. Gramie and Grumps got me a great video camera a year or two ago, and we made Mom a six-and-a-half video (my idea), which she said was her favorite Mother's Day present ever. Basically, it was us doing stuff that we never do -- Lauren was playing with dirt, Kelsey was wearing her contacts, Alexa was unclogging the toilet, David was enjoying nature, Dad and David were cleaning out the garage, I was working out... it was hilarious. We want to do the same thing this year, except Lauren has AP's and David isn't home until just before Memorial Day weekend, so we think we'll do it late and have a combination late Mother's Day/early birthday (June 23) present. I've already started coming up with a list of ideas. Yesterday we spent the entire day doing stuff for Kelsey's Bat Mitzvah. Dad, Kelsey, and Alexa worked in the garden, and Joanne (Hebrew teacher) and her husband Ted and their dog Molly came over for a while to help. Lauren had dance rehearsals, and I was given the task of Sorting The Videos. This is no small task. It took hours. We had videos from ten years ago. I ended up packing away all the skating videos, which there were about forty of. We had skiing videos, Dad's educational videos, old movies no one watches... I mean, we haven't done this since we moved in, and we didn't really ever do it BEFORE we moved... it was a mess. Then there were about thirty unlabelled ones which I had to watch and label. Most were skating, but I found one of Oasis on MTV Unplugged, which was pretty cool, Alexa and I watched some of it. That took a long, long time. I didn't get any work done all day. I kind of couldn't keep my eyes open; K&A woke me up at seven by talking outside my door, and I'd gone to bed at midnight because we were watching the movies... Gramie, Grumps, and Zip came over for dinner. They brought Kelsey's Bat Mitzvah present, which is a pair of really pretty diamond earrings. Much better than the diamond necklaces they got Lauren and I. Speaking of presents, I got a birthday present in the mail from Aunt Jill and Uncle Doug. It's a CD in Hebrew, Yiddish, and English, and a book with a foreword by -- guess who? -- Aunt Jill. I wish they'd just given me an amazon.com certificate or something, because I would have actually LIKED that. How do I write a thank-you note about that? Eugh. I also got a $50 amazon.com certificate from Alyce and Bruce, which makes me VERY happy. I just realized that technically, I owe it all to Mom & Dad for the Alan Lee illustrated edition of LOTR, but I really want to get the illustrated edition of "The Hobbit"... maybe someone will get it for me, we'll have to wait and see. Today I woke up at 5:45, which SUCKED. Did an hour of typing for Joan. I can't focus on anything, I definitely have a fever. Mom and I made the chocolate layer of the cake for my birthday. We have guests over right now who just rang at the gate, so I have to go. -Jessica
